Biography
Kelly D. Clark joined the transactional section of Stibbs & Co. in March 2022. Prior to joining Stibbs & Co., Kelly focused her legal practice on complex commercial litigation and business disputes. Kelly has litigated cases across the United States in both state and federal courts. Before attending law school, Kelly held senior positions at Amegy and Klein Banks and has broad experience in banking, finance, commercial lending industries, secured transactions, and banking regulatory compliance. Kelly’s prior banking experience and extensive litigation practice provides an invaluable perspective for her transactional clients. Representative matters Kelly recently handled include the following:
- Kelly negotiated a $10 million refinancing transaction for a local hotel project.
- Kelly won summary judgment on breach of lending agreement and recovered attorney’s fees for her client.
- Kelly won a complex jurisdictional motion in a Massachusetts’s federal court for a major international chemical manufacturer. This jurisdictional victory required her client’s out of state adversary to litigate its case in a Texas state court. This homecourt advantage led to a favorable resolution for her client on the eve of trial.
- Kelly successfully overturned a local Emergency Service District’s wrongful employment termination decision and got her client reinstated with back pay and his attorney’s fees reimbursed.
Kelly graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in 2010 and earned her law degree from South Texas College of Law Houston in 2014. During law school, she won the “Best Team” award for the Intermural Mock Trial Competition and was a member of the Oil and Gas Law Society and Delta Theta Phi professional law fraternity.
Kelly resides in The Woodlands with her husband and two daughters. Kelly enjoys the outdoors, golfing and shooting guns.
