In a recent significant litigation matter, the firm represented a major global provider of equipment, technology, and services to the oil and gas industry in defending claims brought by a competitor alleging misappropriation of confidential information and trade secrets. The claims arose from the competitor’s assertion that a former employee—who had left the competitor to join the firm’s client—had improperly used or disclosed proprietary information in connection with the client’s business operations. The matter involved expedited proceedings and complex issues at the intersection of trade secret law, employee mobility, and competitive business practices. The firm obtained a directed verdict in favor of the client at the temporary injunction hearing, defeating the competitor’s attempt to restrict the client’s operations and access the client’s computer database. The firm then successfully disposed of all but one of the remaining claims and secured an award of attorney fees through a Rule 91a motion to dismiss and then negotiated a dismissal of the remaining claim and payment of the awarded attorney’s fees to the client.
Maggie Book has officially earned over 22,000 points in the American Paint Horse Association! Her success is built on years of dedication, with support from her family, trainers, and the Paint Horse community. During her time in the APHA, she has earned 10 World Championships, 9 Reserve World Championships, 178 Registers of Merit, and 101 Superiors, making her an inspiring figure in the sport.
Stibbs & Co. attorneys successfully represented their client, a leading provider of residential and commercial services in the cleanup and restoration industry, in the multimillion dollar sale of substantially all of the assets of the business to a Texas based purchaser, including the transfer of seventeen franchises granted by a large Tennessee based Franchisor, negotiating and crafting a complex structure to address the interests and concerns of the parties in the transaction.
